Chaintree is the name of the ancestral home of two Royal Tribes of Lyonesse, Skaghane, and Salay. The original house still stands upon the property, along with the new quarters currently the home of Lord Densmore, son of HG Holden, Duchy de Skaghane.
Chaintree (The chain tree)[]
It was so named for the repeated uses of logging chains to hold the tree together when it was struck and split on two separate occassions by lightning and storms. The tree itself, a Chinquapin Live Oak Tree, has become a symbol of the house and the land that the family have lived upon since the early 1700's. The tree has grown so large that it has grown up and spreads its foliage over an acre and a half of property. The chains that once held the tree together have grown into the base of the tree itself and can no longer be seen. The two splits can be seen in this photograph clearly with HG Holden standing in the base.
